--Why is water-based epoxy coating considered the most cost-effective insulation coating? Environmental performance and reliability testing
With the rapid development of the electric vehicle and new energy industries, the safe and stable operation of electronic and electrical components is crucial. As electrical equipment evolves toward higher voltage, higher frequency, and higher power, the requirements for insulation coatings, such as breakdown strength and volume resistivity, continue to increase. In the future, insulation coatings will develop towards high performance, environmental friendliness, and intelligent features. Mecotech's waterborne epoxy functional coatings act like an invisible guardian, safeguarding various electronic and electrical components.
Water-based epoxy functional coating with exceptionally tough properties
Insulation Performance
Providing high insulation performance, a spray coating thickness of 100µm can withstand high voltages exceeding 5000V. For even higher voltage requirements, the film thickness can be adjusted to create a robust insulation barrier for electronic components.

Precise and Stable
Cross-section of a busbar after spraying (Thickness: 80-120µm)

Precise spraying ensures uniform thickness and excellent sidewall adhesion. For example, at 150±30µm, the Cpk can reach 1.67, ensuring stable and reliable quality.
Environmentally Friendly
Using water as a solvent, it complies with environmental standards such as RoHS and REACH, has a low VOC content, and is environmentally friendly and has no burden.

Excellent Performance
It offers excellent flexibility, toughness, and adhesion, maintaining excellent performance even after long-term aging. Its low ion content ensures safe use.
High-Temperature Resistance
The material has excellent high-temperature resistance: It can withstand temperatures up to 180°C (180°F) or higher for long periods, and can withstand temperatures exceeding 250°C (250°F) for short periods.

Strength can stand the test, performance data speaks for itself
Environmental Indicators: No sulfur, fluorine, bromine, or iodine were detected, and chlorine content was well below the limit, ensuring environmental friendliness.
Adhesion: 100-grid test rating of 0 indicates a tight adhesion to the substrate and resistance to peeling.
Tracking: Passed the test with 50 drops of 0.1% ammonium chloride solution at a 600V test voltage, ensuring maximum safety.
Material Compatibility: Excellent compatibility with thermal grease, release agents, and conformal coatings. Voltage withstand and thermal resistance performance remained stable after 168 hours of testing.
Salt Spray Test: After a 96-hour cyclic salt spray test, only slight yellowing was observed, and the 4300V DC insulation test passed with a minimum of 0.000.
Reliability Test: After endurance testing for 2000 hours at 125°C, 1539 hours at 85°C and 85% RH, and 790 cycles at -40°C to 125°C, the coating showed no signs of peeling or cracking. Its voltage withstand performance remains stable, ensuring long-term reliability.
A comprehensive solution from materials to process
Mcoti has successfully developed a patented water-based epoxy coating spray process. Our Suzhou Application Laboratory provides customers with spray sample preparation services, improving the efficiency of their initial solution verification, reducing R&D investment, and effectively facilitating solution implementation.
This process not only addresses the pain points of traditional insulation materials in terms of pollution, construction complexity, and performance limitations, but also, through process simplification and performance customization, provides a more flexible and economical solution for electrical equipment insulation protection, meeting both environmental and performance requirements.
- VOC-free and workshop-friendly: Water-based epoxy uses water as the dispersion medium, replacing traditional solvent-based epoxies. Application is odor-free and reduces operator health risks.
- Simplified application process: Mecotech's spray process is more adaptable to equipment structures, achieving uniform coverage and resolving the difficulty of wrapping irregularly shaped parts with traditional insulation paper.
Material and space savings: The thickness of a single coating can be precisely controlled to 2-5μm, reducing material usage and accommodating miniaturized designs.
